On October 3, 2023, a mass shooting occurred on the campus of Morgan State University. Four males and one female, including four Morgan students, were injured but no fatalities were reported. The shooting took place after a campus event, and the suspects were not affiliated with the university. The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) made arrests in connection to the shooting, including a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male, who were not Morgan students and did not have a connection to the university. The university canceled classes and homecoming events, and counseling and support services were made available to the students. The campus community was assured of ongoing security measures and support. The city and university authorities expressed their commitment to addressing and preventing such incidents in the future
