There were two incidents at UNC Chapel Hill recently. On September 13, there was an armed suspect at Alpine Bagel, which caused a lockdown, but the suspect was taken into custody without injury. Then, on September 20, there was a shooting at Caudill Labs that resulted in the death of a faculty member. As a result, classes were canceled and most operations were suspended through September 21 to process the death. UNC Chapel Hill issued an Alert Carolina message to notify the campus community of the confirmed significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to health or safety on campus.
