Today on Sunrise Highway, there was a serious crash involving a motorcyclist and a mini school bus around 1:07 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Exit 48, close to Locust Avenue in Sayville. The motorcyclist, Mark Pizzo, was seriously injured and taken to NYU Langone Hospital. The crash closed all lanes on the roadway for several hours, reopening at 4:30 p.m. The bus driver and a passenger were not injured, and both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Authorities are investigating and have requested any witnesses to contact detectives.
