Alissa Turney was a 17-year-old girl who disappeared from her home in Phoenix, Arizona on May 17, 2001. She lived with her stepfather Michael Turney and half-sister Sarah Turney at the time of her disappearance. Her body was never found, and there was no crime scene. In August 2020, Michael Turney was arrested in Mesa, Arizona and indicted and charged by a Maricopa County grand jury on second-degree murder charges in the death of Alissa. He was acquitted of murder charges in July 2023. Although authorities had not found Alissas body and had no forensic evidence linking Turney to a murder, Michael Turney was arrested and charged with second-degree murder based on circumstantial evidence.
