Bob Ross was an American painter, art instructor, and television host who created and hosted the instructional television program "The Joy of Painting" from 1983 to 1994 on PBS in the United States, CBC in Canada, and similar channels in Latin America, Europe, and elsewhere. He died on July 4, 1995, at the age of 52 in Orlando, Florida, due to lymphoma.
Recently, a Netflix documentary titled "Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed" premiered, which reveals a painful and scandalous backstory to the beloved pop culture icon. The documentary centers on Ross former business partners, Annette and Walt Kowalski, who gained control of the rights to his company after the artist passed away. Ross' son Steve accuses the Kowalskis of locking his immediate family out of the lucrative multinational business worth a fortune that his father's name and image have grown into.
