Bruce Lee was a Chinese-American martial artist and actor who died at the age of 32 in Hong Kong on July 20, 1973. The cause of his death is unknown, and numerous hypotheses have been proposed over the years, including assassination by gangsters, heatstroke, and brain swelling. On the day of his death, Lee spent some hours alone with Taiwanese actress Betty Ting Pei, who was thought to be his mistress. The necropsy showed cerebral edema, and a prior episode was diagnosed as cerebral edema two months earlier. In 2022, a new study hypothesized that Bruce Lee died from a specific form of kidney dysfunction, which caused the inability to excrete enough water to maintain water balance. However, the exact cause of Bruce Lees death remains unknown.
