Bryce Love’s football career was derailed by a major knee injury at the end of his time at Stanford, and he never ended up playing in an NFL game.
College and injury
Bryce Love was a star running back at Stanford, winning the Doak Walker Award and finishing as the Heisman Trophy runner‑up after a huge 2017 season. In his final college game in December 2018, he tore the ACL in his right knee, which significantly hurt his draft stock and long‑term prospects.
Short NFL stint
Despite the injury, Washington drafted Love in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent 2019 on the non‑football injury list and then went on injured reserve in 2020, was waived in April 2021, and never appeared in an NFL regular‑season game.
Life after football
After leaving the NFL, Love stayed in the Washington, D.C. area and began working as an angel investor in technology startups, while also taking classes and exploring interests beyond football. He has expressed interest in attending medical school to become a pediatrician and, in 2025, joined the ACC Network as an on‑air college football analyst.
