Cindy Beale is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Michelle Collins. She first appeared on May 10, 1988, and originally departed on December 27, 1990, before returning as one of the shows central antagonists from October 13, 1992, until her exit episode on April 10, 1998. The character died off-screen of childbirth on November 5, 1998. However, in a recent twist, the character was revealed to be alive and will be returning to the show. In the show, Cindy won the custody battle for her children but was arrested for conspiracy to murder after a hitman was hired to kill her husband, Ian Beale. She was held on remand in prison while pregnant with Nick's child and was left there after Nick discovered she was guilty.
