CM Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, was fired from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in September 2023. The termination of his contract was a result of a backstage confrontation at the All In PPV event in London. Punk had returned to AEW in June after a hiatus due to a torn triceps injury.
Tony Khan, the owner of AEW, made the decision to terminate Punks contract after his legal team unanimously recommended it. The employment agreements between Punk and AEW were also terminated with cause. This marked the end of a tumultuous relationship between Punk and AEW, which had lasted for two years.
