what happened to cynthia in call the midwife

Sister Mary Cynthia, originally Nurse Cynthia Miller, suffered a brutal attack in series 5 of Call the Midwife. The attack left her bloodied and shaken, and although she was not raped, she had a bite mark on her neck. After the attack, her mental health deteriorated, and she disappeared from Nonnatus House.
