DeAndre Hopkins' mother, Sabrina Greenlee, survived a horrific acid attack in 2002 when she was blinded by a mixture of bleach and lye thrown in her face by the girlfriend of a man she had been seeing. The attack left her severely disfigured and blind. She was placed in a medically induced coma for nearly a month and underwent multiple surgeries, including skin grafts, but ultimately lost her vision completely a few years ago. Despite these challenges, Sabrina raised her four children as a single mother, overcoming poverty and abuse, and has become a source of strength and inspiration for DeAndre Hopkins. He honors her by giving her the football every time he scores a touchdown to celebrate her resilience. Sabrina has also forgiven her attacker and now works to support domestic abuse victims through her nonprofit and memoirs, showing remarkable courage and forgiveness in her journey.
