Derek Hough's wife, Hayley Erbert, experienced a severe health crisis in December 2023 when she suffered a brain bleed (cranial hematoma) during their Symphony of Dance Tour. She had to undergo emergency brain surgery, involving a craniectomy where 40% of her skull was removed to save her life. Despite the severity of the condition, Hayley has made a near full recovery. As of 2025, she is pregnant with their first child, marking a very joyful turn after her health ordeal.
Hayley and Derek were early into their marriage at the time of her health emergency, having married in August 2023. She has a long background in dance, which is a significant part of their life together, and her determination to recover was motivated partly by her desire to dance again.
