In the season 1 finale, Lala is in a serious Jeep accident while rushing to tell Gibbs she has protected him in the Pedro Hernandez investigation. The episode ends with her upside down, bleeding and unresponsive, which is why it looked like she might have been killed off.

The season 2 premiere confirms through Gibbs’ narration that Lala is still alive, revealing she suffered major injuries including leg damage, lung trauma, and a brain injury.
