what happened to lestat in interview with a vampire

In the finale of AMCs "Interview with the Vampire," Louis kills Lestat. However, Louis' move isn't fatal, as letting a vampire bleed out doesn't kill them. They have to be beheaded, burned, or drink the blood of the dead. Lestat is not dead, as revealed in Episode 7 of the series. Although Louis and Claudia did leave New Orleans that night, and they did massacre those party guests, everything else is tainted by memory and manipulation.
