Mallory Beach was killed in a boat crash that occurred on February 24, 2019, when Paul Murdaugh, allegedly drunkenly crashed his familys boat into the Archers Creek Bridge in Beaufort, South Carolina. Mallory was ejected from the boat into the dark water and was the only person to die from the accident. Investigators and volunteers spent eight days searching for her, and her body was found about 5 miles down the river from the crash scene. Mallory was 19 years old at the time of her death and was attending college and working at a clothing store. Her family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Murdaugh family, which was settled for $15 million with a convenience store company in July 2023.
