Morice Norris, the Detroit Lions safety, suffered a serious injury during a preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons in early August 2025. His injury occurred on the first play of the fourth quarter when his head snapped backwards after colliding with the running back Nathan Carter. Norris appeared to lose consciousness and experienced what was reported as a tonic-clonic seizure (a type of grand mal seizure characterized by stiffening and rhythmic jerking movements). He was attended to on the field for about 20 minutes before being taken off in an ambulance and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Fortunately, he was in stable condition upon hospitalization with sensation and movement in all his limbs. The game was subsequently suspended with about six minutes left as a mark of respect and concern for his health. Norris returned to the Lions' practice facility a few days later and entered the NFL's concussion protocol. His head coach Dan Campbell mentioned that Norris was "doing well" and they planned to be cautious with his recovery over the next 10 to 14 days. Norris also shared a reassuring message on social media, thanking everyone for their support and saying he was "all good." Overall, despite the severity of the injury and the frightening nature of the seizure on the field, Morice Norris is recovering and receiving careful medical attention under concussion protocols. The Lions and fans remain hopeful for his full recovery.
