Overstock.com has changed its name to Bed Bath & Beyond. The change comes after Overstock purchased the bankrupt brands name, domain, and loyalty program assets for more than $21 million. The acquisition does not include the Bed Bath & Beyond brick-and-mortar stores, which are closing. Overstock CEO Jonathan Johnson said that "combining the strengths of the Overstock operational model and the Bed Bath & Beyond brand will create a powerful synergy". The change was approved by a judge and Overstock officially swapped its name out for the now-defunct housewares chain. The relaunch of the website as BedBathandBeyond.com merges Overstock's online business model and merchandise with Bed Bath & Beyond's name and branding.
