Paul Pelosi, husband of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was severely assaulted in October 2022 when David DePape broke into their San Francisco home. DePape attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer, causing a fractured skull and serious injuries, and Pelosi was hospitalized for six days. The attacker was convicted in federal and state courts and received a life sentence without parole, alongside a concurrent 30-year federal sentence. Pelosi has been recovering physically and emotionally from the traumatic incident but has made progress in his recovery.
