what happened to ray on er

Ray Barnett, a character on ER, was involved in a tragic accident during Season 13. After getting drunk at a wedding, he walked home intoxicated, stumbled while answering a call, and was hit by a truck. The accident resulted in Ray having to have both of his legs amputated below the knee. Following this, he left Chicago for his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. However, Ray returned in the final season for a few episodes, where it was shown that he was working in the disability physical rehabilitation field and had advanced prosthetic legs that improved his quality of life. He also rekindled a relationship with Dr. Neela Rasgotra, who later joined him at his hospital. Ray's story on ER ended with him adapting to his new life and career after his accident.
