Robert Urich was an American actor who played the starring role in the television series Vega$ and appeared in other television series over the years including S.W.A.T., Soap, and The Lazarus Man, as well as in several feature films including Turk 182!, The Ice Pirates, and Magnum Force. In 1996, Urich announced that he had been diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that attacks the body’s joints. He underwent several treatments to fight the cancer during the last years of his life. The week before his death, he was hospitalized at Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks for breathing problems and died there on April 16, 2002, at the age of 55.
