Sri Lanka Cricket has been suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) with immediate effect due to extensive government interference in the boards administration. The ICC Board determined that Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its obligations as a member, particularly the requirement to manage its affairs autonomously and ensure that there is no government interference in the governance, regulation, and administration of cricket in Sri Lanka. This decision was made in response to the dismissal of Sri Lanka Crickets board by the countrys sports ministry and its replacement with an interim committee following poor performance at the World Cup. The conditions of the suspension will be decided by the ICC Board in due course, and the future course of action is expected to be clearer after the ICC Board meets on November 21.
