Steve Doocy, longtime co-anchor of Fox & Friends since its start in 1998, announced in May 2025 that he is stepping back from his full-time hosting role on the show. After nearly 30 years of waking up at 3:30 a.m. and commuting to the Fox News studio in New York City, he decided to move to Florida and work remotely three days a week as the "coast-to-coast co-host." He will no longer appear daily on the iconic "curvy couch" but will continue contributing to the program with special reports and commentary from various locations across the U.S., including Florida and the Midwest. Doocy emphasized that he is not retiring or leaving the show, just making a change to reduce the demanding early hours and spend more time with his family, including his grandchildren. His colleagues Brian Kilmeade, Ainsley Earhardt, and Lawrence Jones will continue hosting full-time from the New York studio
