When the box was opened, the otter named Mij (or Mijbil) darted out of the box immediately and disappeared quickly down the aircraft. This caused a commotion among the passengers, with cries and shrieks, and a woman even screamed "A rat! A rat!" out of fear. Mij was later found disappearing beneath the legs of an Indian passenger, and despite attempts to catch him, he escaped. Eventually, Mij returned to Maxwell (his owner), climbed onto his knees, and rubbed his nose on Maxwell's face and neck, showing affection and trust.
