When you block someone on WhatsApp, several things happen:

- Blocking a contact wont remove them from your contacts list, nor will it remove you from the list on the contacts phone.
- The blocked contact can still see your messages in a group you both participate in, and youll see their messages in that group as well.
- You can unblock someone youve blocked at any time.
In summary, blocking someone on WhatsApp prevents direct contact from that user, but it doesnt remove them from your contacts. Its a way to cease contact without having an uncomfortable confrontation, and the blocked contact wont be notified of the block.
