what happens when you put a small amount of solute in a large amount of solvent

When a small amount of solute is added to a large amount of solvent, the resulting solution will be diluted. The solution will have a relatively small amount of dissolved solute, and therefore a low concentration. As more solute is added to the solution, the concentration will increase and the solution will become more concentrated. The amount of solute that can dissolve in a given amount of solvent is limited by the solubility of the solute. Some solutes have a very small solubility, while others are soluble in all proportions. When the solute is solid, excess solute can easily recrystallize, while if the solute is a gas, it can bubble out of solution uncontrollably.
