According to the search results, Jose Rizal drew his inspiration in writing Noli Me Tangere from a book entitled Uncle Tom’s Cabin which was authored by Harriet Beacher Stowe. The novel is about the life of Negro slaves under the hands of powerful white Americans. Rizal was also motivated in writing the novel because of his strong sense of patriotism and his experiences as a witness of Spains colonization in the Philippines. He wanted to awaken the Filipinos to the truth that was adversely affecting the society and which had not been talked about by the people most probably due to fear with the ruling Spaniards. The novel was also written to initiate Filipino nationalism leading to the 1896 Philippine Revolution and to establish the grounds for aspiring to independence.
