3E is a travel class available in some Indian trains, which stands for 3rd AC Economy. It was an initiative by Lalu Prasad Yadav to enable poor people to travel by AC coaches. The 3E class is similar to the 3A class, but with 6 berths and 3 side-berths, totaling to 9 berths. The side middle berth is extra, and bedroll charges may be extra for some trains. However, according to a recent update, the Indian Railways has decided to disband the 3E class in trains.
