The Yurchenko double pike is a gymnastics vault that was first performed by Simone Biles. It is a vault that consists of two backflips with straight legs, followed by a pike position in which the gymnast bends at the waist. The Yurchenko double pike is part of the Yurchenko vault family, which is named after Natalia Yurchenko, who first performed it in 1982. The international gymnastics federation awarded the Yurchenko double pike a 6.4 difficulty score, meaning a vault with perfect execution would receive a score of 16.4. The Yurchenko double pike has the highest D-score of any Yurchenko variation. Simone Biles became the first woman to perform the Yurchenko double pike at the world championships in 2023, and the vault will now be named after her.
