A dynamic character is a character in a story who undergoes significant internal or external changes throughout the course of the story. By the end of the story, dynamic characters are very different from how they were at the start. They are often the protagonists of the story and undergo major inner changes over the course of the story. In contrast, a static character is one that doesn’t change throughout the telling of the story. Dynamic characters are usually well-drawn and important to the story, but whether a character is static or dynamic is no reflection of their importance or quality.
