A Fumo is a line of high-quality plush character figures manufactured and sold by the Japanese company Gift. They are designed to be soft to the touch and are popular among Touhou fans. The name "Fumo Fumo" is derived from the Japanese onomatopoeia "mofu mofu" meant to express the feeling of softness. Fumos exist for multiple franchises, but most notably the Touhou Project. Fumos are generally difficult to purchase, even in Japan, due to their relative scarcity. They are out-of-stock as a rule, and Gift typically only manufactures them twice a year, when they open for limited pre-orders. For most restocks, Gift does not ship outside of Japan; when they do, the sales go through the AmiAmi store. Fumos are known to be difficult to acquire outside of Japan because Gift does not ship internationally. As such, customers outside of Japan are required to resort to a proxy service or to purchase from retailers at varying and usually much larger rates.
