In Pakistan, the education system is generally divided into six levels: preschool, primary, middle, high, intermediate, and university programs leading to undergraduate and graduate degrees. A-levels is a two-year education system controlled by Cambridge International examination and is considered equivalent to FSc or 11th and 12th grade in Pakistan. A-levels is a globally recognized qualification that is essential for admission to a variety of university courses and professional training programs. It is a common perception that A-levels are harder than FSc, and students can choose any set of courses varying from physics or mathematics to accounting and economics. After clearing A-levels, students receive a General Certificate of Education. Pakistani students can easily apply for universities abroad after passing their A-levels. However, in Pakistan, universities will not accept students on their A-levels grades alone. Their A-levels grades must be equivalated to the Pakistani education standard by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Pakistan, in order to apply to local universities.
