Oklahoma State Universitys athletic teams are known as the Cowboys and Cowgirls, and their mascot is a cowboy named Pistol Pete. The term "Pokes" is a short form of the word "cowpokes". "Go Pokes" is a common phrase used by OSU fans, along with the Pistols Firing hand symbol. The university has a number of traditions, including the Waving Song, which is sung by fans after scores in football and following victories in other sports. In recent years, Oklahoma State Athletics has also created a Go Pokes app to enhance the digital and gameday fan experience. Pokes With A Purpose is an organization that exists to create and develop name/image/likeness (NIL) opportunities for all Oklahoma State University student-athletes.
