A poker run is an organized event where participants visit five to seven checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. The checkpoints can be located around a city or along a specific route, and participants can use various means of transportation such as motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, horses, or even on foot. The objective of the game is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run, with prizes awarded for the best hand.
To participate in a poker run, a fee is usually required, and in some events, a small part of the fee may go to funding the event, including the prizes, while the rest goes to the events charity recipient or club treasury. In charity events, most, if not all, of the funds go to the selected charity.
