A signature is a handwritten depiction of someones name, nickname, or even a simple "X" or other mark that a person writes on documents as a proof of identity and intent. It is the act of signing ones name to something, or the name of a person written with his or her own hand. A signature serves to affix an individual’s distinctively personal, indisputable self-identification to a document or a form permanently as physical proof of their personal certification and witness of the content of every part, or a selected area, in this document. In the modern era, a signature is defined by the user’s affirmative assent to be bound to an agreement, and electronic signatures are readily accepted and enforced by courts. A signature can also refer to something that serves to set apart or identify, such as a tune, style, or logo, and is closely and distinctively associated and identified with someone or something.
