A sloop boat is a type of sailboat with a single mast and a fore-and-aft sail configuration. It is the most common modern sailboat and features one mast and two sails, typically a Bermuda rigged main, and a headsail. The headsail is located in front of the mast, while the mainsail is located behind it. Sloops are very efficient for sailing into the wind and are relatively simple to control, making them a popular choice for recreational sailing. They are also popular because they are easy to handle with a small crew. Sloops are manageable sailboat layouts up to a length of about 45 feet (14 m) .
