They have a vested interest in planned changes and proposals within the healthcare sector. Stakeholders in healthcare can include but are not limited to:
- Patients, caregivers, and patient advocacy organizations
- Clinicians and their professional associations
- Institutional healthcare providers, such as hospital systems and medical clinics
- Government agencies
- Purchasers and payers, such as employers and public and private insurance companies
- Pharmaceutical firms
Other stakeholders in healthcare improvement include managers, executives, clinical assistants, and payers. Stakeholder analysis is a dynamic process and should be undertaken at the beginning of a project and revisited as the project evolves. Identifying stakeholders who can affect a project at an early stage is important so these relationships can be developed.
