A UPI ID, or Unified Payment Interface Identity, is a virtual payment address (VPA) that identifies a user on the UPI system. It is typically in the format of yourname@bankname or mmyy@ybl, where "mmyy" can be your name, the first half of your email address, or even your mobile number, and "@bankname" is the initials of your bank. UPI IDs are created on UPI-enabled payment apps, such as Google Pay or Paytm, and are associated with a users bank account. They allow users to send and receive money without having to share confidential details like account numbers or credit card information. Users can create up to four UPI IDs for a single bank account, and multiple UPI IDs can be associated with the same bank account. UPI IDs are used to route transactions through the UPI payment servers, and having multiple UPI IDs can improve payment success rates by providing alternative routes for transactions.
