AGM stands for Absorbed Glass Mat, and it refers to a type of battery technology used in advanced lead-acid batteries. In AGM batteries, the battery acid is absorbed into fiberglass mats instead of sitting as a free-flowing liquid. The fine glass fiber separator between the positive and negative plates helps absorb all the battery acid, and this separator is what gives AGM batteries their name. AGM batteries are designed to resist spilling acid and reduce water loss during usage, making them maintenance-free. They also provide superior power and vibration resistance in high-electrical demand vehicles due to their optimized cell design and compression.

AGM batteries are not to be confused with the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of a company, which is a mandatory annual assembly of a companys executives, directors, and interested shareholders. At an AGM, the directors of the company present an annual report containing information for shareholders about the companys performance and strategy. Shareholders with voting rights vote on current issues, such as appointments to the companys board of directors, executive compensation, dividend payments, and the selection of auditors.
