The Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) classes are a set of advanced, college-level courses offered to high school students through the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). The AICE program prepares students for honors-level college work and is recognized internationally. It includes courses across four subject groups:
- Group 1: Mathematics and Sciences (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Marine Science, Mathematics, Physics)
- Group 2: Languages (e.g., English, Spanish, French)
- Group 3: Arts and Humanities (e.g., History, Art & Design, Literature)
- Group 4: Interdisciplinary and skills-based subjects (optional)
AICE classes come in two levels: AS Level (Advanced Subsidiary), which is generally a one-year course, and A Level (Advanced), which is more challenging and usually spans two years. Students earn credits from passing exams in these courses, and a combination of credits across groups leads to the Cambridge AICE Diploma. The AICE Diploma requires at least seven credits from these courses, including the mandatory AS Level Global Perspectives & Research course. Achieving the diploma can earn students college credit, improve college admissions prospects, and qualify them for scholarships in certain states like Florida. The program is considered a rigorous and flexible college prep curriculum that encourages deep learning in specialized subjects.
