An Amazon OTP (one-time password) is a security measure used by Amazon to add an extra layer of protection to your account or packages. There are two types of Amazon OTPs:

  • Two-factor authentication (2FA): This is a security feature that requires you to enter a one-time password (OTP) in addition to your password when logging into your Amazon account from a new device or browser. Amazon sends a six-digit OTP to your registered email address after they ship your item or if youre trying to log in from a new device or browser. If you receive an Amazon OTP text message when you weren’t even trying to log into your account, it means someone else is trying to log in.

  • Delivery OTP: This is a code that you must provide to your Amazon delivery driver to accept specific packages, usually high-value items. In some other countries, Amazon sends delivery OTPs via text, but in the U.S., they are required on delivery for some orders.

Amazon Pinpoint, a service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS), includes a One-Time Password (OTP) management feature that allows you to generate new OTP codes and send them to your recipients as SMS text messages.
