An EPC rating is a measure of a propertys energy efficiency in the UK. It is a standardised document prepared by an energy assessor that measures the energy efficiency of a building. The rating is based on how much energy the property uses per square meter for heating, light, and other purposes, as well as how much energy it loses through poor insulation. The rating is given on a scale from A to G, with A being the most energy-efficient and G being the least energy-efficient. The EPC provides a numerical grade, between 1 and 100 (occasionally 120 depending on renewable energy measures) and a lettered grade from A to G. The EPC will also show the households estimated energy costs for lighting, heating, and hot water for the next three years. The EPC rating is valid for ten years, and it is a legal requirement to have an EPC if youre selling, leasing, or renting a property.
