An oculus is a circular opening, especially one at the apex of a dome, in architecture. However, the term Oculus is also used to refer to virtual reality headsets developed by Oculus VR, which was acquired by Facebook and is now known as Meta. The Oculus Quest is a standalone virtual reality headset that can run games and software wirelessly under an Android-based operating system. It supports positional tracking with six degrees of freedom, using internal sensors and an array of cameras in the front of the headset rather than external sensors. The Oculus Quest uses second-generation Oculus Touch controllers, which were modified to accommodate Oculus Insight, with their tracking rings moved from the back of the controllers to their tops so that they can be tracked by the headsets cameras. The Oculus Quest offers highly immersive graphic experiences thanks to 1832 x 1920 resolution screens for each eye, with supported refresh rates up to 90 Hz.
