An output device is any piece of computer hardware that receives data from a computer and converts it into a human-perceptible form. The output can be in different forms such as text, graphics, audio, video, or hard copy such as a printed document. The most common form of output device is a display device, which presents output visually on a computer screen. Other examples of output devices include printers, speakers, projectors, headphones, and braille embossers. An output device works by receiving a signal from the computer and then translating that data into another form. Without an output device, a computer can still function, but there would be no way of determining what the computer is doing.
