The MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System, also known as ATACMS, is a tactical ballistic missile manufactured by Lockheed Martin. It is a long-range guided missile that can strike targets well beyond the range of existing Army cannons, rockets, and other missiles. The missile has a range of up to 190 miles (300 km) and is 13 feet (4.0 m) high and 24 inches (610 mm) in diameter. It can be launched from the tracked M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and the wheeled M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) . The missile has a GPS-aided inertial navigation guidance system. The missile carries a WDU18, 500-lb class blast fragmentation warhead. The missile has been used in combat, including during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. The United States has been sending HIMARS to Ukraine since last year, and ATACMS can be launched from HIMARS.
