Atelier
An atelier is a term of French origin that refers to a private workshop or studio of a professional artist in the fine or decorative arts, or an architect, where a principal master and a number of assistants, students, and apprentices can work together producing fine art or visual art. The atelier can also be the work and study space of a haute couture fashion designer, hair stylist, or artists more generally. Today, ateliers are small, independent art schools, usually started in the personal studio of a single artist, with a focus on historic art education models, and based on the observation of nature. Ateliers are known for their focus on training students in realism drawing and painting skills, teaching them how to draw realistically like the Old Masters. In summary, an atelier is a place where artists train to master realistic drawing and painting skills, and it can also refer to the studio or workshop of an artist or designer.
