AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) software application for desktop, web, and mobile developed by Autodesk. It was first released in December 1982 for the CP/M and IBM PC platforms as a desktop app running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. Subsequent versions were later released for other platforms including Classic Mac OS (1992), Microsoft Windows (1992), web browsers (2010), iOS (2010), macOS (2010), and Android (2011) . AutoCAD is a general drafting and 3D modeling tool used by architects, engineers, and construction professionals to design and annotate 2D geometry and 3D models with solids, surfaces, and mesh objects. It is used for many different design processes and is focused on architecture and engineering based on 2D design and 3D modeling. AutoCAD allows users to draw and edit digital 2D and 3D designs more quickly and easily than they could by hand. The files can also be easily saved and stored in the cloud, so they can be accessed anywhere at any time.
