Auto Hold is a feature available in some Kia models that maintains the vehicle in a standstill even though the brake pedal is not depressed after the driver brings the vehicle to a complete stop by depressing the brake pedal. Before the Auto Hold will engage, the drivers door, engine bonnet, and tailgate must be closed, and the driver's seat belt must be fastened. The Auto Hold will be released automatically when the accelerator pedal is pressed in D, R, or manual mode. To use Auto Hold, first, press and hold the brake, then push the Auto Hold button. The light will come on, and then the feature is on standby. When driving off from Auto Hold by depressing the accelerator pedal, always check the surrounding area near your vehicle. Slowly depress the accelerator pedal for a smooth launch. To cancel the Auto Hold operation, press the Auto Hold switch. The AUTO HOLD indicator will go out. The following are conditions when the Auto Hold will not engage: the Auto Hold light will not turn green, and the Auto Hold will not engage if the driver's door, engine bonnet, or tailgate is open, the driver's seat belt is not fastened, the brake pedal is not depressed, or the vehicle speed is above 5 km/h. Auto Hold is a convenient feature that prevents the car from moving even when the driver takes their foot off the brake pedal, making it useful when parking on a slope or driving in a traffic jam.
