Baileys Irish Cream is an alcoholic drink that is a blend of Irish whiskey, cream, cocoa, and other ingredients. It was invented in 1973 by a team headed by Tom Jago, working from a marketing brief issued by Gilbeys of Ireland, a division of International Distillers & Vintners. Baileys is manufactured in Ireland by Diageo at Nangor Road, in Dublin, and in Mallusk, Northern Ireland. It has a declared alcohol content of 17% by volume. Baileys is the original Irish cream and the most popular liqueur in the world. It can be enjoyed neat over ice, shaken into cocktails, drizzled over ice cream, or used in baking. Baileys also comes in several other types and flavor variations, such as Salted Caramel, Strawberries and Cream, Espresso Creme, Red Velvet, and Apple Pie.
