The BH number plate, also known as the Bharat Series number plate, is a new registration series for vehicles in India that was introduced in 2021. The BH series number plate is for non-cargo vehicles and is valid throughout the country. The aim of the BH series number plate is to create a unified system for vehicle registration across the country and to make it easier for car owners who regularly move to different cities or states for their jobs. With the BH series number plate, car owners can relocate to any region in India without worrying about the re-registration of their vehicle. The BH series registration number includes the Year of Registration (YY), followed by BH (Bharat series), a 4-digit registration number, and XX. The BH number plate comes with a unique registration number assigned to an individual vehicle across India. The Motor Vehicles Act stipulates that passenger vehicles can be driven for a maximum of 12 months without transferring the registration to the new state. After 12 months, the owner has to transfer the registration of the vehicle to the new state where it is being driven or kept. Failure to comply with this regulation can result in fines and penalties.
