Bobby Hurley, the team roper, is currently living a quieter ranch life in Arkansas, raising horses, cattle, and hay. He still ropes cows and calves in the pasture, but he says he hasn’t run one in the arena in years because of a shoulder issue.
Hurley is best known as a two-time world champion header, with ProRodeo Hall of Fame recognition for team roping achievements in 1986, 1993, and 1995. That part of his career remains the foundation of his reputation in rodeo.
In a recent interview, Hurley described his daily life as full-time ranch work rather than competitive roping. He said he misses arena competition, but practical limits have kept him out of it.
So the short answer is that Bobby Hurley is not actively competing in team roping right now. He appears to be focused on ranching and occasional pasture roping instead.
